A massive German Zweihänder, or two-handed sword, from the mid-16th century, famously wielded by the Landsknecht mercenaries. This imposing weapon measures over 170cm in length and features large parrying hooks (parierhaken) on the blade to protect the hands during close combat. The grip is long enough to accommodate both hands comfortably, allowing for sweeping strikes that could break pike formations. Despite its size, the weapon is surprisingly well-balanced, a testament to the engineering skills of the German swordsmiths. A museum-quality piece that dominates any collection it enters.
