It features folk art scrimshaw carvings, including a ship, a flag, and the owner's initials, offering a glimpse into the life of a soldier or frontiersman of the time. The wooden base plug is secured with small iron nails, and the spout retains its original stopper. Powder horns were essential accoutrements for any black powder shooter before the advent of cartridges. A wonderful piece of early American folk art and militaria.
